Fly Fishing & Fly Casting Instruction in Cumbria with Lee Cummings

What do I teach and what could you expect from a casting lesson with me?

Lets take for example the scenario of a novice learning the Overhead cast............

I would set to work right on the heart of the issue, of which is learning how to move the Rod Tip and line correctly through a Straight Line as possible, between two fixed positions.

A very simplistic exercise would then be used to focus the eyes periodically on what the tip is actually doing as they cast.

During this practice exercise the tip pathway will inevitably straighten "we are only talking minutes here" and if we continue to do this we will automatically note that the line we are casting is straight, pointed and looking really fantastic already.

All the while as you rightfully enjoy what it feels like to cast a nice loop of line under tension, all those detrimental issues of fly casting that have frustrated and usually held people back for years, are becoming more and more insignificant to you by the second, your brain is alight with firing the right commands to the muscles and you have a smile on your face, for the first time you realize, not only can you do this, but you are actually doing it exceptionally well too....!

Give them the correct equipment, show them properly from the start and they will thrive.
